Srinagar, August 11 (KNO) : President DAK Dr Suhail Naik has welcomed the recent government circular through which all the health institutions of Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to follow uniform rate structure for commonly done investigations at these hospitals.

It is in place to mention here that many health administrators had created there own set of rates for these investigations and making them very very costly for poor people without taking any prior approval from concerned authorities thus showing utter disregard to rules and fundamental rights of General public We appreciate this people friendly, and pro-poor move said Dr Owais H Dar General Secy DAK, it was long due and DAK had been pressing hard for it from a long time, added Dr Dar.

DAK further cautioned the government that certain officers are trying to sabotage this historic decision by trying to become a stumbling block in its implementation and creating unnecessary hurdles so that few people who are looting poor people for the purposes of amassing huge wealth are allowed to run there illegal shops and go scot free. Dr Naseer tak, Joint Secretary DAK said that DAK will become voice of voice less and expose all these people in public. Terming it shocking and unbelievable Dr Mohd Ashraf said that few hospitals are charging rates which are not prevalent any where in the country and poor people in rural areas are being forced to pay such exorbitant rates so that third parties involved are benefited at the expense of poor and needy.

Doctors Association Kashmir has thanked Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, and Director Finance for HME, Mr Rafiq sahib for issuing a timely circular in this regard. DAK also thanks DGHSK, Dr Saleem ur Rehman who has shown keen interest in this issue and we hope that he will get the circular implemented on ground in letter and spirit DAK has further urged the authorities that while formulating the final rate list of the investigations for both private and public sector, our view point shall also be sought so that our concerns on this issues are also addressed, we believe that government hospitals are service providers for people of the state and should in no case be made revenue earning industry at the expense of poor and needy.
